Jennifer is …

  • A natural connector who brings together unexpected ideas and people who need to know each other.

  • A generalist who is great at amplifying others’ ideas.

  • A calm and grounding force.

About our name: Fungi send out hyphae—long branching filaments that are collectively called mycelium. They are arguably the Earth’s greatest connectors.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • Interconnection

Our world is linked in ways we’re only starting to comprehend. As our well-being is inextricably linked, we must take great care of one another.

  • Authenticity

We all deserve to show up as our true selves; every voice matters; sometimes some of us need to listen more so that others can take up their rightful space.

  • Stories Matter

Storytelling is crucial to change. Science and data are invaluable, but artists and the imagination are necessary for the deep transformation our world needs.

  • Emergence

It’s often hard to avoid prescribing the way we think things should go, but when we can get out of our own way and allow life to emerge, unexpected patterns and growth are possible.

  • Change

Change is inevitable, powerful, scary, often necessary, and usually more beautiful than we expect.

ENDORSEMENTS

  • With her experience as an author and yoga teacher, I trusted Jennifer to help me think through my projects and bring mindful awareness to the process. Jennifer was the first person I thought to ask when I decided to find a writing coach. She has been wonderful in this role, and I appreciate her kindness, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm for my work.

Diane Wiliams, assistant professor, McDaniel College

  • Jennifer is one of the most skilled facilitators I’ve had the pleasure of working with in community engagement and community building. She has a masterful ability to lead diverse groups in constructive conversation and help participants leave with a renewed understanding of the issues at hand and a sense of purpose and direction.”

Nick Benson, Director of the Office of Coummunity Engagement

  • Jennifer is an excellent group facilitator. She takes the time to learn in order to plan an effective path for the goals of the group. Our board was lacking in direction, and the strategic planning process she led has provided actionable items, and generated ideas for the future of our community.

Rachel Carr, Chair of the Johnson Co. Loca Homeless Coordinating Board

  • Jennifer New sees the way forward. I’ve been in groups assembled by Jennifer and I've thought to myself, ‘There's no way we could even agree on pizza toppings, let alone next steps,’ and an hour later, I'm watching us all find our unique positions along a common thread she had noticed the minute we sat down. She speaks the language of connection and collaboration and gracefully decodes that language for those of us who are less fluent.”
